If you have hepatitis C, you are not alone. Over four million people in the United States are infected with HCV.

Most people are diagnosed after a routine blood test and other tests reveal HCV in their blood. Many people with hepatitis C don't know that they're infected and that HCV can damage their livers.

The standard treatment for hepatitis C

Currently, the recommended treatment for hepatitis C is treatment with interferon and ribavirin for 24–48 weeks. About half of all patients see a long-term drop in their HCV level, commonly called a Sustained Virologic Response (SVR).1

For the other half of people—those for whom treatment is not effective or who later have detectable levels of virus—there is another treatment option. INFERGEN® (Interferon alfacon-1) is a different kind of interferon that may offer a chance to be virus-free.2
